I am currently working on the interplay between security technologies and disabilities, which includes organizing a workshop on the topic and preparing a short report on the subject. The German workshop is being held on July 21-22, 2010 in Tübingen. However, there might be a chance to extent the research on the topic - so, if you are interested, please let me know.

Next week I will participate in the 8th International Conference of Computer Ethics: Philosophical Enquiry (CEPE 2009), where I will host "Special Panel Discussion on occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the foundation of the International Center for Information Ethics". You will find a little more information on the panel as well as a paper contributed by Charles Ess at the ICIE web site.

I will also give a talk on "Security, Computer, and Ethics" at the conference, which is not listed in the programme yet.

Back from Jura and Jura - off to Siegen and Brussels

I just came back from Glasgow and Jura last week, where I have taken part in the Surveillance Symposium at the Institute of Advanced Studies (University of Strathclyde, Glasgow). Next week I will do a small presentation at the kick-off workshop of the SiKomm-Project at the University of Siegen, before joing the final CHALLENGE-Conference in Brussels next week.

I just realised that I did not post anything here since November 2008... well, it's time for a short update... Here are the tour dates: I will come to CEPE 2009, where I will host a special panel discussion on occasion of the 10th Anniversary of the foundation of the International Center for Information Ethics. I will also come to STP in Enschede.

I also did become the vice-director of the Steinbeis-Transfer Institute of Information Ethics and was nominated as a member of the Management Committee of Living in Surveillance Societies (LiSS).

The draft version of the paper I am going to present with my co-author Christian Hoffstadt at the Heavy Fundametalisms-conference in November was be published online. Comments and suggestions are welcome! (It's a draft, you know...)

Since I haved posted on this blog in a while, here is a short summary of what I did and what I am going to do: I have done a presentation at the German Philosophy Conference on informational justice and privacy. The German paper can be downloaded at the conference website. I went on vacation (Cadiz and Jerrez are wonderfull cities!) and I am going to co-host the Medicine and Philosophy-Symposium in Tübingen, that is going to take place this weekend. At the symposium I will present a paper on the question "Since when are we not able to eat knowledge?". Yes, that is a strange question.

I did also a couple of German papers. I guess the next English paper being published is going to be "A life no longer worth playing - Some remarks on Ingame-Suicide". I will keep you updated.
